The First Computer Virus: Creeper

In 1971, Bob Thomas created Creeper, the first computer virus, designed not to cause harm but to demonstrate self-replicating code. It spread on ARPANET, displaying the message: "I’M THE CREEPER, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!"
Soon after, Reaper, the first antivirus program, was developed to remove Creeper. The development of viruses like Brain (1986), Morris Worm (1988), and ILOVEYOU (2000) showed the evolution of more harmful computer viruses.
Today, cybersecurity is vital, with antivirus software helping protect against malicious threats.
