The Birth of Basketball

In December 1891, Dr. James Naismith invented basketball as an indoor game using a peach basket. His goal was to create a winter activity for his students.
The first game was played with a soccer ball and a peach basket nailed 10 feet high, and dribbling wasn’t allowed. It ended 1-0, marking the start of a global sport.
Over time, the peach basket evolved into a metal hoop with a net, and the game became faster with changes to the ball and hoop design.
Basketball has come a long way since its humble beginnings and is now a worldwide phenomenon.
